ge of color, shrivelling and sweating. Thus it is necessary to eliminate this gas from all environments in which types of products, which are particularly sensitive to ethylene, will be kept. Ethysorb RP 58 is the result of this project. Our formula, based on a product composed of potassium permanganate and aluminium oxide, acts absorbing and oxidizing ethylene eliminating it completely, till reaching lowest concentrations of almost zero, in p.p.m.
This machine is supplied with a suction part whose function is to collect the cell’s air in the higher points and convey it to an exchanger in which the air is forced to cede the ethylene and then to return to the lower part of the cell, being ethylene lighter than air.
The operation of this machine, planned and produced entirely by ISOLGAS, does not imply any risk regarding toxicity, odours and flavours, neither for persons nor for fruit and vegetable; it complies with all the requirements ann regulations of the US Ministry of Agriculture and of the European Community.
The product,
acting in dry condition, does not get into direct contact with the food
and is the first one, on a commercial basis, to withstand high pressure
without pulverizing. Once it has reached a level of saturation, detectable
by a marked change colour, it will be sobstituted by a new product, without
any difficulty or risk. Control over the degree of saturation as well
as the substitution is possible since the product is placed indifferent
containers, which are indipendent from each other and can easily be checked.
Loose This allows for a partial substitution of the most saturated product,
which means relevant product saving and therefore high efficiency of the
machine. The ethylene absorber can be installed both inside and outside
the cell in case that in the cell preservation is achieved by means of
controlled atmosphere. No particular maintenance is necessary, and the
possibility of failure is almost non-existent. This machine has the property
to absorb also sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide - products which
are highly responsible for the deterioration of most flowers.
